Helping factories to produce personal protective equipment

IDH is supporting the apparel sector to alleviate the impact on factory workers and people dependent on the apparel industry, who have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

For example, to address the global shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), IDH has set up a Dashboard where buyers and suppliers can connect, and where factories can find guidance regarding PPE production.

Urgency of action to tackle tropical deforestation

Over 85% of (sub)-tropical deforestation is commodity-driven and caused by shifting deforestation. Producing countries account for the carbon emissions of export products like cocoa, palm oil, coffee, soy, beef, rubber, wood pulp and tropical timber. When imported, the ‘hidden emissions’ of these deforestation-related commodities could reach almost half of the domestic carbon emissions of European consumer countries. The Urgency of action to tackle tropical deforestation report, a first-of-its kind, offers a comprehensive overview of the current situation of deforestation, the drivers behind the loss of forest in tropical countries, the best present-day mitigation efforts, and future strategies to save our forests. It combines the facts and figures known to date to provide you with the necessary insights and nine practical nine recommendations to take action in value chains and inform policies to tackle tropical deforestation.
