The role
As an Innovation Manager you work on strategic advisory, knowledge production and research to advise private sector actors on how to drive more sustainable, inclusive, and commercially viable agricultural markets. You support in data collection and analysis, distilling key insights that can be fed back to companies but also as learnings to your internal colleagues. For this role in particular, you will work towards defining a sector-wide learning and impact agenda for the cocoa value chain.
As part of this role, you will contribute to or lead the development of knowledge products ranging from insight reports and blog entries to webinars and events. This includes developing compelling storylines and high quality written and visual content to engage internal and external audiences. Together with our senior communications officer you work on the dissemination of these knowledge products through various channels.
Within this role you are part of a global team with colleagues based in the Netherlands, Kenya and India. This role can be based in Utrecht or Nairobi.
Who you are
You are highly analytical yet practical thinker. You are able to digest large of amounts of information and data in a short time to quickly get to the most relevant and strategic insights. You have good advisory skills and you are able to share your expertise and feedback in a compelling and influential manner. Ideally, you have gained first-hand experiences of providing strategic advice to clients (e.g., consulting, banking). With your people skills you are approachable and easy to talk to. This makes it easy for you to work with flexibility, entrepreneurship, and diplomacy both individually and as part of a complex team effort. You own your work and you are able to work independently and on different projects from beginning to end.
What you bring
- Working and thinking at master’s degrees level;
- 5+ years of relevant working experience in international development, strategy consulting, banking, agri-trade, or similar preferably with content expertise in smallholder value chains and climate change;
- Excellent PowerPoint and writing skills, first-hand experience with storyline development of research publications is desirable;
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English;
- Experience with the cocoa value chain is a plus
- Willingness to travel.
We offer you
- A gross monthly salary ranging from EUR 4,088 to 5,110 (excluding 8% holiday allowance), based on a 40-hour work week. Our salary will be determined by your level of experience, ensuring you are rewarded for your skills and expertise.
- A 6-month contract temporary for this role first, and there can be an opportunity to extend based on funding and good performance.
