Innovation Manager, Gender – Utrecht, The Netherlands

Your role

Within this role you will be contributing to mainstreaming gender and moving the IDH gender agenda forward. IDH has seen throughout the years that gender equality is a catalyser for economic growth. Gender equality and women’s empowerment are essential to building healthy and resilient businesses.

Strategy and Insights (S&I) Business unit is one of the Business Units of IDH whose overall mission is, through Thought Leadership, Developing tools, Giving Strategic Advice and supporting IDH with Coordination, capacity building and Alignment, to empower internal and external stakeholders to efficiently and effectively drive systemic changes in domains of Better Income, Better Environment, Better Jobs, and Gender Equity in Global Agri-food Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Improve Gender tools and materials to support project teams and gender champions.
  • Conduct research on gender interventions to create insights for cross sector learning and share this with relevant stakeholders internally and externally. This includes supporting the integration of gender components into the IDH processes and procedures.
  • Provide strategic and technical gender advise to program teams globally and impact theme teams; including but not limited, related to the implementation of the gender strategy and specific projects.
  • Present at internal and external meetings and platforms to share our insights to move the gender agenda forward;
  • Write/contribute to thought-leadership papers, blogs and other communications.
  • Contribute to strengthening the positioning of S&I in the wider IDH organisation, including but not limited to supporting the S&I Director and Senior Gender Advisor in integrating gender in the next Multi-Year Strategy.
  • Manager projects and assist with preparing internal and external meetings, helping support the Senior Innovation Manager Gender.

What you bring

  • A relevant master’s degree
  • 7+ years of working experience in a private sector company or NGO in the areas of Gender, social inclusion, and sustainability.
  • Consultancy experience and experience working on gender business cases/ Gender Transformative Business Models is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of (agricultural) supply chain sustainability
  • Good communicator and ability explain complex issues in a fact-based and simple way.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English. Additional languages are an advantage but not required.
  • Knowledge of (agricultural) economics and/or business management
  • Experience with working in multi-cultural teams.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

We offer you

A challenging, pivotal role within an impacting, international organisation – and:

  • a salary range between EUR 4,251 – 5,314 (excluding 8% holiday allowance) per month (based on a 40-hour work week), depending on your experience and competences.
  • A full-time (40 hours) 1 year contract initially, with the intention to extend (as this is a permanent position).
