Program Officer, Landscapes Asia – Sabah, Malaysia

We are excited to be searching for a proactive and pragmatic Program Officer with an interest to join our team, and we hope it’s you!

Your role.

As Program Officer you are is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and management of various programs within the Landscapes Business Unit with particular focus on program administration, program development, financial reporting, logistics and research.
This role involves coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring program objectives are met, and driving the overall strategic goals of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help identify potential partners to work with in implementation programs. Support the development and implementation of high-quality projects with government, private sector, farmers and NGOs.
  • Record and reconcile of financial administration, aligned with IDH’s internal control framework.
  • Maintain contacts with existing program stakeholders and establish network with other related public and private partners.
  • Support program activities to convene stakeholders, and build partnerships with local governments, private sector, and civil society.
  • Support the program management by delivering reporting, monitoring and evaluation of the project portfolio.
  • Prepare, review and disseminate project-related reports and documents. Supporting outreach to relevant stakeholders to keep them informed on plans and progress.
  • Supporting development of fundraising opportunities and proposals, with the aim of securing funding for the programs.
  • Participate in a knowledge sharing and learning culture among team members and program partners; assist in identifying and documenting lessons learned based on local reality on the ground.

You are an organised and efficient professional with a strong ability to plan and manage your work effectively. You can balance multiple priorities and manage diverse tasks with ease, consistently delivering high-quality results.
You excel at navigating complex stakeholder environments, ensuring effective coordination and communication among various groups. Your skill in explaining and clarifying information allows you to bridge gaps in understanding and facilitate smooth collaboration.
Addressing capacity limitations within stakeholder groups is a challenge you meet head-on, using your organizational and communication skills to enhance capabilities and drive successful outcomes in a dynamic and exciting environment, such as IDH.

What you bring:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in international organizations/settings, preferable in program development and implementation in the area of sustainable agriculture management and/or in natural resources management.
  • Relevant degree/experience in business, agriculture, environment, natural resource management, social sciences or related field.
  • Prior experience, knowledge, and networks in landscapes approaches or oil palm sector preferable but not essential
  • Good experience in project and stakeholder management
  • Good writing, analytical, research and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially a very good working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to remote areas in Sabah as required.
  • Candidate must have the permission to work in Sabah, Malaysia
