Program officer

We are searching for a Program Officer to join our team in Côte d’Ivoire and support in particular the implementation of the Cocoaperation Program.

Your role

As a Program Officer in Côte d’Ivoire, you will have the opportunity to contribute to facilitating and driving impact in dynamic sustainable supply chain projects in the cocoa sector in Côte d’Ivoire. You will work closely with the Senior Program Manager to lead on administrative and operational activities such as contracting, project reporting and preparing the logistics for meetings and events. You will also develop and maintain structures to monitor and report on the programs’ progress and thereby ensure the smooth running of the programs.

You mainly provide all-round support to the IDH team in Cote d’Ivoire, while also liaising with IDH colleagues at Headquarters when needed.

Your Key Responsibilities would be:

  • Monitoring and Reporting
    • Monitoring performance of new and existing project portfolio.
    • Review of project progress reports and assist with the preparation of donor reports, focusing on results, output and outcomes.
    • Ensuring that partners are on track with the projects’ objectives.
    • Monitoring donor compliance of grant-funded projects.
    • Coordinate Program’s monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
    • Support the collection of input from the Program’s partners to enable Operations to run the required program administration and reporting.
    • Support in overseeing field missions and review reports on monitoring missions
  • Information dissemination and communication
    • Create/maintain content for the Cocoaperation page on the IDH website and prepare regular online communications.
    • Ensure adequate communication of the achieved results to public and private sector stakeholders in the cocoa sector and local communities
    • Assist with the development and disseminate official and relevant information to the partner including but not limited to newsletters, calls for proposals, event dates, official reports, etc through validated communication channels.
  • Financial reporting
    • Manage the monitoring of programme implementation and finances using IDH results based management tools.
    • Support in tasks related to Program’s budgeting
  • Event organisation
    • Support the organization of stakeholder meetings and events with logistics, communication, and writing reports.
  • Other responsibilities
    • Support in the selection process of new projects related to the Cocoaperation Program
    • Support selection of external consultants when additional support is needed (e.g., drafting Terms of Reference, managing process for consultancy selection, etc.).
    • Support the Program with research and administration.
    • Support in enforcing the strict respect of IDH compliance regulations for co-funded projects
    • Support IDH Secretariat when needed
    • Perform other duties are required

Who you are

You are an organized, service-oriented, self-motivated team player with a strong interest in agricultural supply chain sustainability and processes. With your analytical and practical skills, you are able to be the optimal support to the Cocoaperation team. You communicate easily with a lot of different people and are used to work with cross-cultural teams. You are curious, able to work independently and learn fast as you make sure you get to know the programs and projects quickly. You can work independently in a results-oriented, flexible and hands-on manner also under time pressure. .

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master preferred) with at least 2 to 3 years of relevant working experience in a supporting and/or administrative role in an international environment;
  • Experience in project management & (financial) administration & project budgeting and reporting;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially a very good working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in both English and French;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in cross-cultural situations;
  • Affinity with agribusiness and international agricultural supply chains; previous experience in the cocoa sector will be an asset.
  • Based in Côte d’Ivoire with valid working permit.
