Senior Innovation Manager Systems Change

We are excited to be searching for an enthusiastic and reliable Senior Innovation Manager on Systems Change to join our team, and we hope it’s you!

Your role.

  • Within this role you define, lead, and help colleagues constantly  reflect about how IDH can best achieve systemic change in value chains to make global agricultural production more sustainable (economically, socially and environmentally). You co-define IDH’s narrative and language on systems change.
  • You play a key role in IDH’s strategy and the strategies of our programs by providing feedback and guidance on how to improve them to achieve the system change we are after
  • You are aware of the different theories on systems change, how other organizations work on this topic, and you bring a network of experts that work on systems change.
  • You develop and implement a capacity building plan to train IDH staff on systems change in global agricultural production . bringing theory into practice in a way that helps colleagues implement a system change lenses into their day to day work
  • You support the review of our main strategies and how we can monitor and evaluate our effectiveness as systems change agent.
  • You work closely together with your colleagues of the Innovation & Insights team to constantly capture learnings on our system change role in a way that it helps teams to reflect and to further develop
  • You link withother teams, such as the Monitoring & Evaluation team, the Communications team and the International Partnerships and Fundraising team and our program teams.
  • You report to the Global Director of the Innovation & Insights team.

Who you are.

  • You are a seasoned expert that combines conceptual and analytical skills with excellent communication skills.
  • You have worked on systems change and/or have familiarity with how to work on systems change in global agricultural production or global trade.
  • You are able to contribute significantly to IDH’s strategy and its program strategies on how to  achieve systemic change in value chains to make global agricultural production more sustainable (economically, socially and environmentally).
  • You have experience with different schools of thought on systems change and you can simplify complex topics.
  • You have experience working on a learning agenda and how to apply this to our area of expertise.
  • You have a high-level understanding of the key impact themes that IDH is working on; Better Income, Better Jobs and Better Environment and gender equality as a cross-cutting impact theme.

With your people skills you are approachable and easy to talk to. You are a strong team player that inspires and engages colleagues and engages IDH’s partners and funding organizations. You are creative and both analytical and practical, and come in with an entrepreneurial mindset. You are honest, transparent, energetic and a professional that demonstrates highest level of integrity. This all with a good sense of humor and a positive attitude.

What you bring.

  • 8+ years of relevant working experience – in food systems in Africa, in value chains, private sector or in consultancy focused on international development;
  • Working and thinking at M.Sc. level;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and a network of peers in “systems change”;
  • Strong analytical skills, and a demonstrated ability to address root causes for unsustainable practices in value chains through a systems change lens;
  • Experience in implementing systems change theory into practice, in measurement of systems change, and in developing and implementing a learning agenda in topics relevant to IDH area of work;
  • Experience in building the capacity of staff to apply a systems change lens in their day-to-day work;
  • Experience in collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • A dedicated team player, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal with multiple organizations located in different locations and with multiple levels of seniority;
  • Skilled communicator (fluent in English); a second language is a plus.

We want you to become a pro-active sparring partner to stakeholders for overall topics – therefore, strong communication skills are really of an essence. We want you to be able to clearly exchange information via appropriate platforms to deliver reports/messages.
