Senior Manager, International Partnerships and Fundraising – Geneva, Switzerland

We are excited to be searching for a proactive and pragmatic Senior Manager with an interest to join our team, and we hope it’s you! Based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Your role.
As our Geneva-based Senior Manager, International Partnerships and Fundraising (IPF), you will play a crucial role in successful shaping of donor relations and implementation of IDH fundraising planning in line with the IDH fundraising strategy, by continuously developing, coordinating and implementing the IDH partnerships with the SECO donor, Swiss based donors and other types of (Geneva- and Switzerland-based) strategic partners.
The role has a specific focus on the fundraising and relationship building support for IDH Invest and furthermore, ensures good implementation and follow up of the strategic partnership between IDH and the World Economic Forum, aiming to transform food systems and agricultural value chains to be more resilient, sustainable, inclusive, and commercially viable. You will work independently in a remote setting, directly reporting to the Director of International Partnerships and Fundraising, who is based in Belgium. You’ll collaborate with a diverse international team spread across various IDH locations, including the Netherlands, Belgium, UK, Colombia, Ghana, Vietnam and/ or Indonesia.
Key Responsibilities:
International Partnerships & Fundraising
  • Manage the SECO core donor account: take the lead in continuous development of the strategic collaboration with the Swiss SECO and MFA and the broader Swiss public sector; ensure and organize donor engagement and accountability across the organization (IDH HQ and country-offices).
  • Continuously develop and implement the engagement strategy with Swiss public and private sector stakeholders: NGOs and national development finance institutions, scoping business opportunities related to IDH programs.
  • Support program partnership development with Swiss partners (including companies), in close link with the IDH business units, country offices and relevant support units, within the framework of the relevant multi-year plans.
  • Manage donor accounts within the global fundraising strategy and implementation plan.
  • Collaborate with the IPF team to develop strategy, plan implementation, create pitching materials, attend meetings, and share information to strengthen donor relations.
  • Guide teams involved in donor relations, program work, and fundraising, focusing on collaborating with the IDH Invest team on fundraising strategy and engaging with the Geneva-based impact investing community.
  • Maintain key stakeholder relationships, including diplomatic networking, and support IDH’s engagement with Geneva-based organizations like ILO, WTO, ITC, and the Business & Human Rights Forum, especially involving IDH donor countries and countries where IDH operates.
IDH Project Fellow for the World Economic Forum
  • Develop and implement activities to mobilize transformative finance based on prior experience and existing expertise.
  • Leverage strategic initiatives such as the Green Fund, Farmfit Fund, FMC4Food and 100 Million Farmers to galvanise finance.
  • Mainstreaming Regenerative and Climate Adaptive Agriculture by working with the FMC4Food to convene dialogues and support commitments from private players
  • Design and execute activities to integrate regenerative and climate adaptive agriculture practices into food systems.
  • Create knowledge products focused on FMC4Food, 100 million farmers on topics such as soil health and farmer finance.
  • Conduct research, compile data, and produce reports, case studies, or toolkits on the identified themes to inform and guide stakeholders.
  • Organize and facilitate task forces, working groups, and collaborative sessions.
  • Gather insights, stimulate discussions, and secure commitments to advance the goals of the FMC4Food and 100 Million Farmers initiative.

Job requirements

What you bring:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a proven track record in effective stakeholder management, successful fundraising and building international partnerships
  • At least 7-10 years of track record in providing TA on business modelling and investment readiness
  • Relevant experience with the (impact) investing process; familiarity with carbon finance is a plus.
  • A good understanding of the Swiss international policy context and knowledge about the current thinking in international development; sustainable trade; supply chains and/or agricultural commodities, climate change adaptation, food system transformation, sustainable land and forest management.
  • A proven strong network amongst Swiss private and public stakeholders (retail, industry, government, civil society, academia)
  • Ability to advise governments, companies, civil society organizations on international development and sustainable trade and make the link between the IDH offering and the needs of our partners and funders worldwide
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbally
  • Working and thinking at master’s degree level
  • Fluent in English, (Swiss) German and French. Other languages a plus
