Through our tea cluster work, IDH has been working in the tea sector since 2008. From 2015 onwards, the program has focused on tackling the challenge of wages in the tea industry, from 2015-2020 through the Malawi Tea 2020 program, and since 2021 by exploring a living wage commitment. Since 2022 concrete 1-1 partnerships with buyers, retailers and producers are in place to measure the living wage gap in their supply chain, in line with the steps of the IDH LW Roadmap. IDH convened this group of companies further to work towards a living wage commitment in the tea sector, a process that has been ongoing since Q4 of 2022 and is based on deeply collaborative workshops with the industry and other stakeholders.
On the basis of these Terms of Reference, IDH aims to select a party to conduct an assignment to provide insights into possible collection and distribution mechanisms to execute living wage gap closure in the tea industry and to calculate the LW gap quantum in tea in an origin-specific manner.
Questions regarding the assignment or the ToR may be submitted by e-mail to Gabriel Chait at Chait@idhtrade.org until May 29th, 2023, 12:00 (noon) CEST, with an email subject: “Questions tender “Living Wage in the tea sector”. Questions must be submitted in the English language and using the Template Question Form, attached to this ToR as Annex 2. The submitted questions will be grouped, anonymized, and combined in an information notice. This notice will be sent to all consultants in reply to the e-mail in which the questions were submitted.
The deadline for submission of proposals is June 12th 2023, 12:00 (noon) CEST.
