IDH supports the European Sustainable Tropical Timber Coalition projects that will solve key issues preventing Sustainable Tropical Timber from entering the European market. IDH facilitates European STTC working groups on public procurement to support an increasing public demand for STTC
In the past half year, the following activities have for example taken place:
- The STTC conference on sustainable tropical timber procurement
- An ICLEI project to bring the STTC under the attention of the public sector and generate a long list of potential participants
- A workshop on the developments concerning sustainable procurement in Berlin.
The European Sustainable Tropical Timber Coalition was founded by IDH in response to declining market demand for tropical timber and in order to increase the volume of sustainably managed tropical forests.
