“Cocoaperation!” What does it mean to you? In two words, Cocoa and Cooperation!

The purpose of this program is to support collaborative projects (involving several stakeholders in the value chain) to improve the living conditions of cocoa producers and their families in Côte d’Ivoire.

Cocoaperation is a partnership between IDH and the Conseil Café Cacao – CCC (a regulatory, stabilization and development body for the coffee and cocoa industry in Côte d’Ivoire), which supports the transition from cocoa farming to a viable commercial activity for as many cocoa-growing families as possible in Côte d’Ivoire. The two organizations intend to increase the income of at least 100,000 cocoa-growing households in various production regions of Côte d’Ivoire, by promoting investment in cocoa farms to make them more profitable and sustainable.

To this end, IDH and CCC have invited cocoa bean manufacturers and exporters, as well as financial institutions, to pool their efforts to set up projects that will help reduce the average decent income gap for 100,000 cocoa farmers by 2025.

The program was launched in July 2022, in the presence of the main public and private stakeholders in the cocoa sector in Côte d’Ivoire. The selection and analysis phase of the projects submitted under the first call for proposals has now been completed, and four (04) projects have been selected. They are now in the contracting phase and will be implemented by the various partners until 2025.
