Aquaculture Program in Mozambique

Mozambique is rich in natural resources, yet it remains one of the poorest countries in the world with more than 60% of the population living below the poverty line. Almost one fifth of the population is food insecure, with over 40% of children under 5 malnourished. Fisheries have seen a significant reduction in catches. Mozambique– like many other African countries – has ample opportunity to farm fish. Sustainable aquaculture can produce healthy, high quality food with limited environmental impact, creating jobs and prosperity while reducing the need for food imports.
