The vulnerabilities of local food systems following from the Covid-19 pandemics

Our partner Wageningen University & Research has released a rich ’rapid appraisal’ of the vulnerabilities of local food systems following from the Covid-19 pandemics.  The analysis focuses on the effects on diets and nutrition for people living in low and middle income countries (LMIC) in Asia, sub- Saharan Africa and Latin America.

Understanding the vulnerabilities of local food systems can help shape further mitigation measures to respond and recover from the Covid-19 related shocks.  Recommendations include ensuring accessibility of agricultural inputs for food producing areas, releasing trade bans and restrictions to international trade, and realizing shorter local and regional food supply chains.
