IDH – Deputy Co-chair of the Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture in Vietnam

IDH is chosen by the government of Vietnam and the private sector as Deputy Co-chair (private sector) of the Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture in Vietnam (PSAV) established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The Partnership comprises of partners including relevant government agencies, provincial authorities, civil society organizations, international and domestic companies, and others.

This Partnership is currently chaired by the Ministry representing the public sector and Yara representing the private sector. In this new role in the partnership, IDH will provide support for the coordination of seven Public Private Partnership Taskforces focusing on six commodities (coffee, tea, pepper, rice, aquaculture and fisheries, fruits and vegetables) and the cross-cutting issue of agrochemicals under PSAV. IDH also acts as co-chair of Pepper, Aquaculture, and the Agrochemicals Taskforces

Huynh Tien Dung, IDH Country Director Vietnam, said: “We are pleased to support the Vietnamese ministry and the private sector in this role. We believe that with the effective cooperation of public and private partners in PSAV and its subsequent Taskforces, issues from the agricultural sectors in Vietnam can be addressed more quickly and properly.”

Vietnam is the top producer of pepper, 2nd top producer of coffee, 3rd producer of aquaculture products and 5th producer of tea globally. IDH in Vietnam focusses on coffee, tea, cocoa, spices/pepper, aquaculture and apparel/footwear sectors.
