The Sustainable Management Services in Antioquia and Risaralda (SMS AR) is a farmer support organization, aimed at better integrating coffee farmers into the supply chain. The project aims to create a more stable supply of sustainable coffee in order to develop long-term business relationships between farmers and international buyers. A crucial part of creating and maintaining a sustainable supply of coffee involves soil improvement mechanisms for long-term productivity, yield increase and cost reduction. For this reason, SMS AR will provide trainings on soil improvement, efficient nutrition and the practical re-use of composted coffee pulp. Fertilizer and vegetal material will be provided as a service to farmers. Beyond this, practical technical knowledge and skills will also be gained.
