The Coffee Farmer Income Resilience Program is a collaboration between IDH and private sector partners working on income resilience and regenerative agriculture. This Program is funded by IKEA Foundation. Through this program IDH co-develops sustainable and economically viable service delivery systems that integrate a stepwise approach to achieving income resilience for farmers while transitioning farm systems to regenerative agriculture. To allow for the impact of the program to be measured over time, IDH partnered with Aidenvironment to conduct this baseline study.
This baseline shows that income improvements will require a holistic approach of farm diversification and sustainable intensification. That means good farming practices and the use of organic and inorganic inputs are combined in such a way that they increase farm profitability while maintaining soil health in the long-term.
That is why the Coffee Farmer Income Resilience Program offers blended and bundled services based upon regenerative agriculture principles. These can support farmer livelihoods and food security while creating the agro-ecological conditions which allow benefits to be sustained over time.
