8 Dec 2015 - At the Indonesia Pavilion, the South Sumatra governor launched a Green Growth Action plan with immediate priorities – fire, peatland, poverty and planning.
Together with IDH, the governor is working to implement a green growth plan that will help stop fires, delink commodity production from deforestation by convening the power and influence of both businesses and government.
During the session Sustainable Landscape in Sumatra: From Pledge to Practice, where IDH’s Indonesia country director Fitrian Ardiansyah was the moderator, the South Sumatra governor spoke about this plans to develop an eco-region. This plan is based on IDH ‘s Sustainable Landscape initiative.
At the Paris climate summit, the South Sumatra governor and IDH also met with Leonardo DiCaprio, UN Messenger of Peace on Climate Change. They spoke about the recent land and forest fires, and the governor’s long-term strategy to address these.
